"A dedicated Christian, [Prior Lake High School campus supervisor Chris] Lind has become a de facto advice-giver, friend, and religious mentor to some students," the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported Tuesday. "He said the district told him not to talk to students — even off campus — about 'traditional values,' namely, the district didn't want him to talk to students about abstinence or their sexual orientation. He didn't listen." So he was placed on administrative leave, and a school board vote Monday may terminate him completely.
Role as religious mentor may lead to staffer's firing
The possible dismissal of a campus supervisor at Prior Lake High School has some community members accusing the school district of religious discrimination.

Chris Lind, a campus supervisor at Prior Lake High School, sees himself as someone students can talk to. They come to him with problems, and he helps them through tough times.
The school district sees him as someone it might be better off without, citing complaints against him that have surfaced in the past several months.
Lind, who has been at Prior Lake High School for five years, was on administrative leave until the end of the school year. The school board plans to vote on his termination Monday. His job included watching for security problems and making sure kids behave at school.
By early this week, almost 500 people, including many who say they are parents or students, had signed an online petition supporting him, and dozens showed up at a recent school board meeting to support him.
His story is difficult to tell -- he's reluctant to say much, and the school district says it's legally prevented from saying much, including the substance of the complaints against Lind.
